Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) Stacks

DMFC's directly use hydrocarbon fuels to produce power, without having to produce the fuel via reforming or electrolysis.  Methanol is turned into electricity and water, with almost no pollution.  This type of stack uses liquid fuel instead of gaseous fuel.

DMFC's that are: very compact design with 4 cells/cm (10 cells/inch), lightweight, inexpensive, rugged, molded graphite cell separators, seals to pressures greater than 690 kPa (100 psig).

Applications include: direct methanol fuel cells for  portable power sources,  battery replacement for electronics and communication devices, person heating and cooling equipment, battery charging, lawnmowers, bicycles, garden and shop tools.  Potential future applications include building and utility power sources.
