Giner has technologies that can be used to generate and control the oxygen content of an enclosed space — electrochemically generating or removing oxygen from the atmosphere on demand. Electrochemical oxygen control can be combined with an oxygen sensor and required control circuitry to produce equipment for controlled gas environments. Oxygen levels can be controlled between 5 ppm and 100% using our technology. This equipment can be used to replace high pressure gas cylinders that are ordinarily used to supply various oxygen concentrations.
This technology has applications in biotechnology and clinical research in cell culture and preservation of tissues and organs. Because of its safety and portability it has direct military and homeland security applications for cell culture. There are applications in agriculture, where fruits and vegetables are stored in controlled atmospheres. Finally, reducing the oxygen content of shipping containers has been used for pest control, or disinfestation, as well as for improving the freshness of seafood being transported to market.
